Ricky Eugene Vaughn
Rick, 60, of Naples, FL passed away peacefully on May 6th, 2023 at his home surrounded by family.
Rick was born at Lafayette Home Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana to Richard and Sandra (McBrite) Vaughn on February 7th, 1963. He attended Longlois Elementary, Sunnyside/Tecumseh Middle and Lafayette Jefferson High School; graduating in 1981. He received his Associates Degree in Applied Sciences in Automotive Service from Indiana Vocational Technical College in Lafayette and started his career at Hoffines garage.
In 1987 he got the urge to follow his dreams to Naples, Florida and continued in his profession until retirement due to ALS complications in November 2020. Rick earned many awards and additional certifications throughout his career, including Master Mechanic. Rick was a passionate learner and mentor to others in the field. His optimistic outlook on life allowed him to befriend many and always see the good in them. He was an amazing son, brother, father, and spouse. He enjoyed cars/racing, watching football, golfing, beach/fishing, working in his yard, live music and more.
He is survived by his only child Mackenzie Wardwell (Robbie) of Naples, fiancé Connie Bristow of Bonita Springs, FL, father Richard Vaughn of Lafayette, IN, brother Michael (Kathy) of Lafayette, sister Tamara Spriggs (Thomas) of Norfolk, VA, brother Marc (Kari) of Coloma, MI. He was preceded in death by his loving mother Sandra Vaughn in 2010.
Rick got to celebrate his life with us on his 60th birthday and therefore decided no service was necessary. He donated his brain to the University of Miami for further ALS research. In lieu of flowers please donate to Team Gleason foundation of New Orleans LA, Hope Hospice of Lee County FL or the Lee Health ALS clinic of Fort Myers, FL.
