Ricky A. Morris passed away on February 26, 2025 after a long battle with cancer. He was born on July 27, 1957 in Chestertown, MD to the late William Stack Morris and Helen Peggy Elburn Morris.
After graduating from Rising Sun High School, Rick entered the Natural Resources Police Cadet program in July, 1976. He then attended the Natural Resources Police Academy. Upon graduation in December of 1978, he was assigned to Inland Enforcement in Worcester County, MD. In his law enforcement career, he worked in hunter safety education, as a firearms instructor, and was part of the dive team, retiring from law enforcement as a Corporal. His passion was in teaching hunter education, however, so after retiring, he accepted a position as NRP Regional Coordinator for Hunter Education. He continued in that position until his health would no longer allow it.
In addition to his career, Rick was active in the Snow Hill community. After moving to Snow Hill, he joined the Snow Hill Jaycees and served as their president in 1984. He also coached a variety of youth sports for many years, including Snow Hill Soccer League, Little League, and Volleyball, as well as the Salvation Army Girls and Boys Basketball, and the Worcester County Youth Basketball League.
From a young age, Rick had a great appreciation for the outdoors. As an adult, he combined his love of hunting and fishing with his love for teaching kids. In addition to the thousands he taught in hunter safety classes, he also took countless kids-including his children and grandchildren-hunting and fishing, teaching them to do so safely and responsibly. So many kids got their first deer under Rick's watchful eye.
Rick is survived by his wife, Norma Ennis Morris, and his children, Christopher Morris (Liz), Randy Morris (Shelby), and Mandy Kirwan; daughter-in-law, Erika Ehinger; sister, Linda Charsha; brothers, Tony Morris (Terry) and Larry Morris (Kim); and grandchildren, Nicholas, Noah, Emmette, Jace, Dawson, Landon, Frank, Coralee, MacKenzie, Zoey, Jobie, Cole, and Adelyn, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sandy Morris, and son, Chris Ehinger.
For anyone who knew Rick, he was an example of strength and integrity. For his family, as well as others, he was ready to help with any need. In his battle with cancer for over seven years, he never gave up. He fought on through pain, never complaining. Even three months before his death, he was in the woods helping his grandson with a deer. He will be missed more than words can express, but his life made a difference and will not be forgotten.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 8, 2025 in Holloway Funeral Home, Salisbury. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 PM in the funeral home. Arrangements are in care of Holloway Funeral Home, P.A., 501 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, MD 21804. Please leave condolences for the family at www.hollowayfh.com.
