Rita (Giannini) DeMarco, 82, of Weymouth, MA formerly of Melrose, MA and St. Pete Beach, FL passed away, peacefully with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
Rita was born in Stoneham, MA on July 13, 1943. She received her BS in Education from Salem State in 1965 and in later years, went on to earn her Master’s Degree from Cambridge College. Rita was an elementary school teacher for over 20 years. She eventually continued her career in non-profit human services, in Boston, assisting children and families in a different capacity until her retirement.
Rita is predeceased by her husband, of 44 years, Joseph G. DeMarco. Together, Rita & Joe, enjoyed spending their winter months in St. Pete Beach, FL and summer months in York Beach, ME (and MA).
Rita was an avid reader and used to bring a book with her everywhere she went! She would be especially content reading her favorite book while sitting outside in the sunshine.
Rita was the loving mother of Joseph G. DeMarco, Jr. and his wife Rebecca, of Milford, MA and Sara DeMarco Daley of Weymouth, MA. She was the cherished grandmother (Nana) of Ariana DeMarco, Joey C. DeMarco, Daniel Daley and Brandon Daley. Rita is survived by her sisters Linda Foye of TX and Pamela Tobey of NH as well as her cousins Bernice Ruane of Randolph, MA and Dianne Ward of NC. She also leaves behind many other dear cousins, nieces and nephews.
Rita spent her final stage of life at The Dwyer Home where she received compassionate medical care for which her family is grateful.
In accordance with Rita’s wishes, cremation will take place and services will be private.
