Rita F. Engleking, age 46, of Dixon, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at her home.

Born on March 29, 1979, to Allen and Janet (Dimpfl) Engleking, Rita spent her childhood in Carroll County and attended both Savanna and Thomson schools, graduating from Thomson High School in the Class of 1997. From a young age, Rita had spirited determination that could border on stubborness. She nurtured a unique passion for vintage clothing and developed a deep appreciation for the stories and experiences of older generations. Rita had a natural affinity for animals, especially her beloved cat, Meow Meow, and remained a loyal and caring friend to many throughout her life. Rita spent countless hours exploring a wide range of topics on her computer. Her conversations, particularly with her brother Philip, were lively and thought-provoking—frequently turning car rides into animated debates.

In her early adulthood, Rita endured a life-altering car accident that marked the beginning of a long and difficult journey. Despite the hardships, she faced each challenge with resilience, maintaining her fierce independence and inner strength throughout her recovery.

Rita is survived by her mother, Janet Engleking of Savanna; her brother, Philip Engleking of Albuquerque, NM; her sister, Jody; and her aunt, Diane (Steve) Frankeberger of Mt. Carroll, IL. She was preceded in death by her father, Allen; her brother, Allen; and her infant sister, Alexandra.

Rita's courage, loyalty, and intellect will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
