Rita M. (Augustine/Gleichner) Pautz, age 89, a Valders resident, died August 4, 2024, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, Sheboygan Falls.
Rita was born in an apartment above a bar during a blizzard on April 15, 1935, in Grimms, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Frank J. & Irene (Gallagher) Augustine. She was a graduate of St. Isadore's, Osman, Valders High School, Manitowoc County Normal, and Silver Lake College. On August 25, 1956, she married John P. He preceded her in death in 2019. Rita was employed as an English teacher in Manitowoc County and Two Rivers Catholic Central School for over 40 years and always remembered her students fondly. She was an avid reader, enjoyed watching British television shows, doing crossword puzzles, planting flowers, watching birds, going out to dinner, having a glass of white zinfandel, and she was very proud of her Irish heritage. Most of all, Rita enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends.

Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Irene Augustine; her husbands, Jack Gleichner and George Pautz; three sisters: Nancy Neumeyer, Ann Pollock, Mary Jane Augustine; three brothers: Thomas, William and Daniel Augustine; her mother-in-law and father-in-law: Paul and Marie Gleichner; two brothers-in-law: Richard Neumeyer and David Pollock; brother and sister-in-law Beverly and Ken Sanville; and her Goddaughter/niece, Ann Neumeyer.

To Rita's family, my condolences. I first met Rita when I joined the staff of TRCCS in the mid eighties. She was very welcoming to the "new kid on the block". I admired her sense of humor and her classroom control. Students had a very difficult time trying to "get away" with something under Rita's watchful eyes!
