Robert E. Dean

Robert Eugene Dean, 79, of Washington, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025.
He was born on January 22, 1946, in Obion County, TN to the late Houston and Louise (Goad) Dean. His family moved to Peoria when he was five years old.
Robert attended Dunlap High School, class of 1964, often reminiscing that it was one of the best times of his life. He went on to attend Bradley University before serving a tour of duty in Vietnam. After earning his degree from Illinois State University, he began his teaching career at Illinois Central College, becoming a professor in the Business Administration Department. Following his retirement, he continued to teach real estate classes on a part-time basis. Robert enjoyed traveling and was proud of the fact he had visited all seven continents. His favorite place to vacation at was Gulf Shores, Alabama.
He is survived by his two children, Andrea (Troy) Zimmerman and Ryan (Courtney) Dean both from Washington; three grandchildren, Brady, Ella, and Katelyn; his brother, James Dean of Peoria; and two sisters, Sandra Taylor of Pekin and Linda Hauptman of Fort Worth, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, David and Shofner; and his sister, Frances Mercer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors.
A celebration of life will be held by the family on Friday, March 14, 2025 at the American Legion in Washington, IL from 4pm - 7pm. Military Honors will take place to start.
