Robert Phillip Disse Jr.

Robert Phillip Disse Jr. was born April 22, 1945 in St. Louis, MO to Robert and Marian (nee' Vinyard) Disse. He passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023 in Washington, MO at the age of 78 years.
Robert, known to many as "Bob," grew up in St. Louis and graduated from Kirkwood High School in 1963. He continued his education at Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY where he completed a bachelors degree. After completing his education, Bob joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country from 1968 until he was honorably discharged from active duty in 1973. Bob continued serving his country in US Navy Reserves for many years and retired at the rank of Commander.
Bob was united in marriage to Barbara Minckler on July 6, 1968 in St. Louis. The couple traveled together for many years while Bob was in the military. After his time in the service, they made their home in Maine, moved to Connecticut, then Illinois, and settled in Washington, MO after retirement. Their marriage was blessed with three daughters.
Bob enjoyed a successful career as a commercial aircraft pilot. He was a Captain for United Airlines and retired from United Airlines in 2004. From a young age, Bob had a love and fascination with airplanes, trains, and dogs. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed traveling to Michigan to relax and unwind. Bob was a member of First Baptist Church of Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marian Disse; his parents-in-law, Howard and Mary (Shakespeare) Minckler; and one brother in-infancy.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara Disse of Washington, MO; three daughters: Marianne Ellis of Washington, MO, Carolyn Craig and husband Luke of Quincy, IL, and Paula Riesgraf of Hugo, MN; seven grandchildren: Jessica, Christopher, and Rebecca Ellis, Nathan and Laura Craig, Benjamin, and Abigail Riesgraf; one sister, Joan Disse of Kirkwood, MO; sister-in-law, Martha Christian and husband Dennis of Nashville, TN; along with other relatives and friends.
Visitation for 78-year-old Bob Disse will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Oltmann Funeral Home in Washington, MO. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will take place the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks.
