Robert Arnold Fannin, Jr., age 95 of Griffin, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Robert was born on May 22, 1930, in Griffin to the late Robert Arnold Fannin, Sr. and to the late Lois "Tanny" Steele Fannin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Frances Salter, Haywood Fannin, Gladys Anderson, and Ava Allen.
Robert was a graduate of Spalding County High School during which he worked at the University of Georgia Experiment Station part time. After high school, he went to North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega, then went home and finished his degree at Georgia State College of Business Administration where he graduated on June 1, 1958, with a BBA Degree. After college, Robert worked with Western Electric which became AT&T where he retired. Robert was a member of Future Farmer's of America, Pioneers (AT&T), and the Civitan International Service Club. He was also a longtime member of County Line United Methodist Church.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid reader, he enjoyed reading the newspaper, the Farmer's Almanac, Market Bulletin and National Geographic. His hobbies included gardening, camping, farming and fishing. His daily golf cart rides around the farm were his escape from reality. Most of all, he loved riding his tractor with his grandkids. Robert's memory will forever be cherished, and his loving heart will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Those left to cherish Robert's memory are his wife of 70 years, Bobbie "Joe" McKneely Fannin; son, Kevin Robert Fannin (Sandra); grandson, Justin Robert Fannin (Lindsey); great-grandchildren, Autumn Fannin, Sadie Fannin; grandson, Ashton Fannin (Krystal); great-granddaughter, Carson Fannin; granddaughter, Kristin Medina (Juan); great-grandson, John Medina; daughter, Karen Darden (Hiram); son, Kent Fannin (Lita); grandson, Warren "Hauk" Fannin (Fiancé Victoria O'Conner); granddaughter, Hollie Barber (Jessie); great-grandson, Levi Barber; great-granddaughter, Zillie Barber; grandson, Hayden Fannin; granddaughter, Hattie Murto (Aidan).
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at County Line United Methodist Church 416 County Line Church Road,
Griffin, GA 30223. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 P.M. in the church sanctuary with Reverend Ed Swehla officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.
