Robert W. "Rob" Fischer Jr.

Robert "Rob" W. Fischer, Jr., 45, of Mundelein, formerly of LaGrange Highlands, passed away on June 10, 2024. Rob was the devoted and loving father to Robert Adair "Rocky", 9 and Harrington James "Hank" Fischer, 6, who were the joy of his life. He loved his boys fiercely and with his whole heart. He was the loving son of Patricia Fleck (Robert Fleck) and Robert Fischer. He was the beloved brother of Michael Fischer (Erika) and proud uncle of Jack. He was a friend, teammate and colleague to so many people who loved him. He was preceded in death by his devoted grandparents and biggest fans, Ted and Mary Purvin and Robby and Donna Fischer.
Rob was a graduate of Lyons Township High School and the University of Illinois (Urbana, IL), where he played centerfield for the Fighting Illini. He was drafted by the New York Yankees in 1997, but instead chose to pursue his education and then later played professional baseball for several years. He was a tenured Special Education Teacher at Vernon Hills High School and was a well-respected coach and member of the faculty. He recently earned his master's in special education at Northeastern University. He truly excelled in his work as a teacher, mentor, and coach of students at all levels. Rob was a warrior in his battle with depression and fought valiantly until the end. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life and honor his memory at St. Cletus Church, 600 W. 55th St., LaGrange, IL 60525, Monday, June 24 at 9:30 AM for visitation followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.
