Cortland – Robert "Bob" Hannuksela, 95, of Cortland passed away on Sunday morning, April 28, 2024 at his home.
Bob was born on February 4, 1929 in Warren, OH, a son of Samuel and Tennie (Ojaluoma) Hannuksela.
He was a 1947 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and immediately enlisted in the United States Army after graduation. Bob served in the 82nd Airborne and was awarded an honorable discharge for his service.
Upon returning home, and in addition to starting a family, Bob worked as a machinist at Wean Industries and retired after 30 years.
Outside of work, Bob was an avid volunteer for meals on wheels. He was delivering meals into his 90s. Bob also enjoyed tinkering in the garage and had a talent for fixing things around the house, without having to call a repairman. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his family. Bob's loving presence will be missed by all who knew him.
Bob will always be remembered by his son, Mark Hannuksela of Marietta; grandson, Robert Nicholas Hannuksela and many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ann (Vennetta) Hannuksela; daughter-in-law, Shelly Hannuksela; four brothers and 1 sister.
Family and friends may gather in Bob's honor on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at St. Mary and Joseph Church, 232 Seneca Ave NE, Warren, OH 4448, for a Funeral Mass beginning at 11am.
Burial will follow at All Souls Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bob's name to The Hope Center For Cancer Care, 700 Howland Wilson SE Warren, OH 44484.
