Robert R. Long, 89, of Ephrata, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Zerbe Retirement Community.
He was born in Reinholds, son of the late Harry and Sadie (Redcay) Long and was the husband of the late Shirley A. (Haldeman) Long, who passed away in 2017.
Robert was always fixing and building things. He grew up on a farm and was very interested in agriculture. He loved telling stories about the past and how things have changed.
Robert worked as a cement mixer driver.
Robert is survived by a daughter, Deborah A., wife of Jeffery Hess of Ephrata; daughter-in-law, Kathy Long; 2 grandsons, Erik Hess, husband of Autumn, Andrew Hess, husband of Samantha; 3 great-grandchildren, R.J., Dillon, and Eleanor; sister, Anna Mae Sweigart of Green Acres, FL, and brother, George Long of Ephrata.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by son, Kenneth Long, sister, Merla Wise, and brother, Harold Long.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 10 to 11 AM at the Roseboro Stradling Funeral Home, 533 Walnut Street, Denver. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM, with Pastor John Leisey and Pastor Leon Eberly officiating. Interment will take place in the Fairview Cemetery Annex.
