He was born on August 2, 1927 to Robert and Margaret McKennan in Manhattan, NY. Robert grew up in Queens, NY before moving to Aberdeen to raise his family. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War before his honorable discharge in 1953. Robert worked as the director of taxes for Stone & Webster, Inc for 35 years and retired as vice president in 1989. Robert was a long time member of United Methodist Church in Matawan, NJ where he was a trustee and served as secretary for many years. Robert also loved a good baseball game and enjoyed watching his favorite team, the Mets.
Robert is survived by his son, Donald R McKennan and his wife Jane; his daughter Deborah; and his former daughter in law Elizabeth Adams.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Doris McKennan and his son David McKennan.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2022, 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Bedle Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 212 Main St, Matawan, NJ 07747.
A graveside service will follow at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, NJ-35, Hazlet, NJ 07730.
