Obituary of Robert Reese
Mr. Robert C. Reese, 88, passed away under the care of Mt. Valley Hospice at his home in Nelliston, NY, on July 2nd, 2024. A brief time later that morning, his wife of 68 years, Sue M Yager Reese, 85, also under the care of hospice, passed away at her home.
Robert was born in Oppenheim, NY, on October 15, 1935, the son of the late George and June Bruggencate Reese. Sue was born on July 28, 1938, the daughter of the late George Lloyd and Ethel Miller Yager in Minden, NY.
Both graduated from Fort Plain High School and lived in the local area.
For 40 years, Mr. Reese worked for Beech-Nut in the shipping department. Sue had worked for many years as a home health aide for Montgomery Co., and when that department was eliminated, she went on to work in the private side of home healthcare.
Robert enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid hunter. Sue looked forward to trips to the casino and fishing in her younger years.
On June 23, 1956, they were married and celebrated 68 years together.
Both were predeceased by siblings and their daughter, Sue Reese Homkey, on October 17, 2023.
Survivors include their sons, Robert Reese, Bryan and his wife Cheryl Reese, and Tracey Reese; Sue's brother Carl Yager; grandchildren Sarah Reese, Bobby Reese, Tyrell Homkey, Amanda Homkey, Nolan Reese and his wife Elizabeth, Jenna Reese, Ethan Reese, Zachery Reese, and Nathan Verbitsky; five great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will be gathering privately for interment at Fort Plain Cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fort Plain Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339.
If you wish to make memorial contributions, please consider making them to the Mt. Valley Hospice House, 108 Steele Ave, Gloversville, NY 12078.
