SGARZI Robert David, age 84, of Kingston, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025. Born on April 22, 1941, Bob was the son of the late Orfeo and Germaine (Bouchard) Sgarzi. He was a lifelong Kingston resident and graduate of Sacred Heart High School and Northeastern University.
Bob was a professional Civil Engineer and Land Surveyor. He worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as an engineer for over 20 years. Later he started his own land surveying and engineering business together with his partner and close friend, Jim. He loved his job because it combined two of his greatest joys, math and the outdoors.
One of Bob's most cherished hobbies was cutting, splitting and meticulously stacking firewood into his signature beehives. Bob loved nature and spent much of his free time hiking and enjoying the White Mountains of New Hampshire. He had a deep knowledge and appreciation for trees, plants, animals, and astronomy that he enjoyed sharing with others.
Bob, his lifelong friend Eddie, and countless others partook in many wild and adventurous pursuits on and around the Ah-De-Nah, Kingston Bay and Duxbury Beach. He was passionate about Corvettes, muscle cars and drag racing. Bob was known for continuously fine tuning and retrofitting his pickup trucks to enhance performance and speed.
Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joan and was the loving father of Maureen and Sheila and her husband Matt. He leaves his three grandchildren, Joe, Cecily and Seraphina Moon. He leaves his sister Germaine, his nephew Mark and nieces Eva, Emily, and Bonnie. He was predeceased by his brother Richard and his niece Mary. He also leaves the extended Twohig, Mayo and Cardarelli families.
Our family wishes to express appreciation and gratitude to the medical team at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Plymouth for the exceptional care taken of Bob. A funeral mass will take place on June 4 at 10 am at St. Joseph's Parish in Kingston with his interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Donations can be made in his memory to the Mount Washington Observatory or the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
