Robert Aaron Sheffield, 69, of Welaka (formerly of Palatka), passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 25, 2025 at his residence.
Robert was born and raised in Palatka and had lived in Welaka for a year coming from Anderson, South Carolina. He worked in Law Enforcement for many years and had worked for the Palatka Police Department, the Clay County Sheriff's Office, Flagler Beach Police Department, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, and had worked 15 years as a Private Investigator. He was a former member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, was an Atlantic Braves Baseball fan, and enjoyed going out to restaurants.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Jeneinne White Sheffield; and his brother, William Wesley "Bill" Sheffield.
He is survived by three daughters, Brandyln Jones of Florida, Amanda "Mandy" Schwaninger of St. Augustine, and Mackenzie Gorman of Illinois; a brother, Alfred Darvin Sheffield, Jr. of East Palatka; a sister, Catherine "Cathy" S. Ayres (Andy) of Palatka; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday. September 5, 2025 at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka with Chaplain Jakie Carmicle officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m.-an hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will follow in Palatka Memorial Gardens.
