Robert Solt

Robert John Solt, affectionately known as Bob, left us on July 5, 2024, but his remarkable life story and the legacy he left behind continue to inspire. Born on January 13, 1942, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Bob lived a fulfilling 82 years, filled with love, perseverance, and an unwavering spirit.
He loved spending time with family and friends. If he was in town, he was figuring out who and when he was going to wendover. When you mentioned Wendover, he always got a mischievous smile on his face. He was especially happy when he was out camping with family and friends at Naughton and Flaming Gorge. The stories we have heard around the campfire are priceless and still put a smile on our faces or make us laugh and shake our heads and wonder, "What was you thinking?". He could be a handful, but he was also willing to help anyone tag the big buck or reel in a big fish. He was a generous man, and if you showed up at his camp, you never left hungry. He didn't care if you were family, friend, ranger, oxygen delivery man or fellow outdoorsman he would invite you to stay for a meal and a beer. He even purchased a huge restaurant size pot just to make sure he had enough to feed everyone in deer camp or, as some called it "Solt" Lake City.
A couple of days before he passed, he said, "I've had a good life." If you are fortunate enough to still have your parents, spend time with them in the outdoors. If you are a parent, take your kids camping, hunting, and fishing every opportunity that you get. Don't cancel your fishing trip because you think you are too busy. Don't postpone your hunting trip because of the weather or because you think you have better things to do. Just go. And cherish every minute. Take this advice from someone who would give anything to share just one more camping trip with dad.

In honor of his final wishes, we will be hosting a Celebration of Life.
