Robert Theroux Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory (43rd St. Chapel) - Bradenton on Feb. 3, 2026.
Robert Leo "Bob" Theroux, 83, died peacefully at his home in Bradenton, Florida, on February 1, 2026.

Born on February 4, 1942, in Fall River, Massachusetts, Bob was the son of Leo and Alice (Cyr) Theroux. He graduated from B.M.C. Durfee High School in 1960 and went on to build a distinguished career in the United States Air Force. Over the course of his service, he rose to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant, retiring from MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida in 1982. His career took the family to Colorado, Hawaii, New Jersey, England, and Florida. He was recognized for his dedication and leadership with numerous decorations and awards including Outstanding Unit Award, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, and AF Longevity Service Award Ribbon, among others.

After retiring from the military, Bob continued to serve his community through his work with the U.S. Postal Service as an automation readability specialist, and later in management with Tobacco Depot.

In 1969, Bob married Elyane B. Theroux, and together they raised two children. While stationed in England, he devoted countless hours to the Boy Scouts of America, serving as both Pack Leader and Pack Master, shaping the lives of many young scouts.

Later in life, Bob found love again when he met Susan Claus. Sue was his everything. Together, they shared life's joys for over a decade, including a move to Texas to spend precious time with grandchildren.

Bob had a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures - listening to jazz, watching football, and enjoying a cigar and a cocktail with friends who knew how to tell a good story. He was the kind of man who made people feel welcome, who listened more than he talked, and who could warm a room just by being in it.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Alice (Cyr) Theroux; his brother, Leonard Theroux; and his sister, Nancy Theroux. Bob is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Ann (Patty) and Joe Vaccaro of Lewisville, Texas, and by his grandchildren, Ashley (22) and Alex (18). He is also survived by his son, Steven Robert Theroux of Bradenton, Florida; his brother, Thomas Theroux; and many nieces and nephews.
