Robert Lee Tureman, Jr. (1957-2025)
Robert Lee Tureman, Jr., a beloved educator and devoted family man, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, at the age of 68. He was a resident of Chesapeake and was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Susan Henry Tureman of Portsmouth, Virginia.
After earning his Master's Degree in Computer Science from Old Dominion University, Robert dedicated an incredible 41 years of his life to teaching and mentoring students at Camp Community College. He helped numerous students and colleagues obtain Doctorate Degrees, and was constantly doing his own research, even doing Fellowships with NASA. His commitment to the classroom left an indelible mark on generations of learners.
Outside of his long and distinguished career, Robert cherished simple pleasures. He was an avid golfer, both enjoying the challenge of playing the game and the relaxation of watching it. He also possessed a deep and lifelong interest in history of all kinds, always eager to learn and share stories about the past.
Robert's memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 37 years, Deborah Tureman; his two sons, Samuel Tureman and Daniel Tureman; 3 grandsons, Jett, Teddy and Caleb; his sisters, Sally T. Monds (wife of David Monds) and Pamela Tureman; and his nephew, Jason Tureman.
A celebration of Robert's life will be held Friday, November 14, 2025 at 1 pm at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Rd, Chesapeake.
