Robert J. Wagler, 81 of Poughkeepsie, New York, and Naples, Florida, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025, at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital.
Bob was born on November 12, 1943, in Poughkeepsie. He was the son of the late William R. and the late Irene Csizmar Wagler.
He was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and attended Dutchess Community College.
On August 28, 1965, in Highland, NY, Bob married the love of his life, Camille C. Loreto. She predeceased him on April 11, 2013.
Bob worked at IBM East Fishkill for 28 years, retiring in 1993 as a manager.
He was a Life Member of the Croft Corners Fire Company for over 50 years. In that time he held many positions as well as Assistant Chief.
Bob had a love interest in car rallies, car racing, and his Wire Haired Fox Terriers.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Maria Wagler of Myrtle Beach, SC, daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Reto Lichtensteiger of Acton, MA, grandchildren, Gregory Wagler Jr. his wife Heather, of Quantico, VA, Nicholas Wagler, of Newport News, VA and great-grandchildren, Caleb and Jacob. As well as his brother-in-law Carl Davidson, Poughkeepsie, NY, sister-in-law Donna Sisco, Naples, FL, brother-in-law Conrad Loreto, Scottsdale, AZ, sister-in-law Ann Wagler, Cocoa Beach, FL, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Together, Bob and his sister Ruth Davidson, reunited with their brother William R. Wagler Jr., who predeceased them on August 14, 2004.
A Celebration of Bob's life will be held on Friday June 20, 2025 from 4 pm to 7pm with Services to follow at 7pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603.
Memorial donations can be made in Bob's name to the American Fox Terrier Rescue at www.foxterrierrescue.net
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
