Robert (Bob) F. Zoino, age 91, recently of Bridgewater and Middleboro, passed away Monday, January 27, 2025, at Morton Hospital in Taunton. Born in Brockton, MA on April 30, 1933, to John A. and Rose (Centrella) Zoino, he was the beloved husband of Sonia ("Sunny") L. (Anderson) Zoino, for 68 years of marriage, and with whom he raised three children in Brockton.
At 14 years old, Bob began working after school as a dishwasher at the Brockton Public Market lunch counter. After graduating from Brockton High School in 1951, he continued working at BPM (later renamed Shaw's) until his retirement. During his 47-year career there, he worked primarily in the produce department, rising to store manager at the Hanson, and then the East Side Brockton stores. He was promoted to Produce Buyer for the growing chain, and ultimately to Shaw's Produce Director.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Bob hunted deer, pheasant, rabbits and hares, spending at least one week a year at Hawks Nest Camp in Harwich. He rarely returned without at least one deer, which he'd butcher into steaks and stew meat for the family freezer. In later years, he went on more distant hunting and fishing trips, including marlin fishing in Mexico, and trout fishing in Canada. He also loved gardening, planting both flowers and vegetables most years.
A communicant of St. Margaret's church in Brockton, and later St. Thomas Aquinas church in Bridgewater, Bob taught CCD classes and served whenever and wherever he could.
Bob loved to travel, and he, Sunny, and their "gang" visited several National Parks, Hawaii, Alaska, and Bermuda. With his brothers and sisters, they traveled to Italy, visiting the Zoino family homestead. Later, he and Sunny spent winters in Boynton Beach, FL, where he golfed, volunteered on the HOA landscaping committee, and put on several clubhouse dinners for residents over the years.
Bob is survived by his daughter Susan Zoino and husband Dan Levin of Middleboro, son James Zoino and wife Brenda Zoino of Carver, grandson Gregory Zoino of Concord, NH, granddaughter Jessica Zoino Flowers and husband David Flowers of Reading, and great-grandson Caleb Flowers of Reading. He leaves his loving brothers, sister, brother- and sisters-in-law John Zoino, Rose Marie and Sydney Schmitchel, Richard and Barbara Zoino, Ann E. Zoino, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Sunny (Anderson) Zoino, youngest son David, his brother William Zoino, sisters Madelyn Kubiak and Phyllis St. George, brothers-in-law Arthur Kubiak and Albert St. George, and sisters-in-law Marion Zoino, Ann L. Zoino, and M. Virginia Zoino.
