Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bradley's Colonial Funeral Chapel - Boonville on Oct. 31, 2025.
Roberta Farrand, 86, passed away on October 29, 2025 at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Ind. Roberta, more fondly known as "Berta" to those who loved her dearly, was born on January 20, 1939, to Irene and Ellis Hill.
For her entire life, Roberta was a caregiver to anyone she knew and loved, always putting others' needs before her own. She grew up on a family farm on the southside of Evansville and would often share incredible stories about all she learned and experienced in her upbringing. At an early age, she took care of and babysat her nieces and nephews and went on to graduate from the old Central High School in downtown Evansville.
She spent her entire life in this area, except for a brief period when she and her first husband, Freddie Frizzell, along with their sons, Mark and Robert, moved to California, before coming back and owning a poultry business that delivered chickens to many businesses and restaurants in Evansville.
She later found her calling as an aide and physical therapy assistant with St. Mary's Hospital, where she worked for more than 30 years. Additionally, she worked as a paraprofessional with EVSC, helping with occupational and physical therapy for students with special needs and was awarded the EVSC Special Education Paraprofessional of the Year Award in 2003-04. In her time with St. Mary's and the EVSC, Roberta developed lifelong friendships with her dearest coworkers and friends who became family to her. She also cherished her dear childhood friend, Peggy.
Roberta married Jim Farrand on January 27, 1995, which joined two families to create beautiful memories for the years to come. Together, they renovated their home with their family's help and could often be found together working in their yard they enjoyed so much, babysitting grandchildren - a time Roberta often referred to as their happiest memories - and enjoying the delicious meals complete with tasty desserts Roberta always fixed her loved ones.
She lived a wonderful, full life with her family and cherished friends. She enjoyed her plants and flowers, always offering the best advice when it came to keeping anything green going, as well as her Hacienda lunches with her longtime friends from her time working in therapy. Roberta will always be remembered as the wife, mom, mamaw, and friend with the biggest heart for others, always helping those she loved.
Roberta is survived by her sons Mark Frizzell (Peggy) and Robert Frizzell; stepsons Jeff Farrand (Melissa) and Brian Farrand (Beth); stepdaughter Cindy Stovall (Butch); grandchildren Chris Frizzell (Beth), Travis Frizzell (Amber), Lauren Ann, Katie Poe, Josh Stovall (Ashley), Katie Houghland (Kyle), Hilary Farrand, Cavan and Bryson Farrand; and many great grandchildren, as well as a sister-in-law, Jeanine, and a niece and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Linda E. White Hospice and beloved friends who helped Roberta throughout her years.
In addition to her parents, Irene and Ellis Hill, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Freddie Frizzell; her husband of 30 years, Jim Farrand; her sisters Deloris Fauquher and Betty Ann Davis; nephews, Steve Gray and Jimmy Gray; and great granddaughter, Stella Mae Stovall.
