R. D. Jennings, age 71, of Cumming, passed away peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025. Mr. Jennings was known to all as "Dean". Dean was faithfully greeted in heaven by Him, his Dad and his beloved dog, Jeff Gordon. Dean was born on May 23 in Atlanta. Dean was a son, husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, friend and a mentor to many. Dean is survived by his caring and loving wife of over 30 years, Ninfa (née Fay), his beloved daughter, Taylor and his loving mother, Norma Goecke (née Lane) of Roswell, Georgia.
Dean is also survived by sisters Jennifer Johnson (m. Phillip) of Suwanee, Georgia and Judy Jennings of Huntsville, Alabama; father's wife: Cheryl Jennings of Duluth, Georgia and stepsisters: Lori Hill (m. Mike) of Tennessee, and Lisa Alliston (m. Paul) of Florida. Additionally, Dean is survived by his uncle and aunt, Robert (Buddy) Jennings (m. Connie) and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Boyd "C.B." Jennings.
A graduate of Emory University, Dean enjoyed a remarkable career in information Technology spanning more than five decades. His expertise and dedication culminated in various executive roles during his career until his retirement as Principal UI Architect at Genpact (formerly TandemSeven), where he was deeply respected by colleagues and cherished by lifelong friends.
Dean's curiosity and passion for life extended far beyond his career. He was a true renaissance man-an accomplished musician who played guitar, drums, and keyboard, a composer, a woodworker, a skier, a weightlifter, and a lifelong learner. He was known for his craftsmanship making Adirondack chairs, cutting boards and various furniture pieces giving away his skilled art to many. In recent years, he poured his heart into building three electric guitars by hand and teaching himself to play Tiny Dancer on the keyboard. He also found joy in watching Formula 1 racing and golf.
Dean faced every health challenge with quiet courage.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to all who loved and supported Dean during his many phases of life. No formal service will be held; rather, a small family gathering in his memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dean's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, TN, a cause he deeply valued and believed "no child deserved to be sick with cancer or a life threatening illness."
