Rodney Jay Michalk, 84, of Cedar Park, Texas, passed away on March 17, 2023. He was born on December 27, 1938, in Thorndale, Texas, to G.A Michalk and Lena Thaler Michalk. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Thorndale Texas. He married Patsy Simpson on January 4, 1957, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Austin by Rev. Martin Ramming. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage. He was a longtime resident of Cedar Park. He never graduated high school yet was very successful in the printing industry retiring from Steck Company which became Hart Graphics of Austin. If he couldn't find a part for the printing press, he manufactured one.
He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Austin until the Michalk family moved to Cedar Park where they were founding members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He and Patsy used their skills to build their house in Cedar Park over 50 years ago. He loved to go camping with the family. He was always working on and fixing anything that was broken, especially cars and tractors. He loved the family pets and fed the neighborhood wildlife.
He was preceded in death by his parents, G.A. and Lena Michalk; wife Patsy Ruth Michalk; sons, Samuel and Steven; and a brother Curtis Ray Michalk.
Rodney is survived by daughter, Lisa (Rev. Dale) Bohm of Lincoln, Texas; daughter-in-law, Diana Michalk of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Melissa (Jonathan) Slayton of Round Rock, Texas; Amy (Perry) Nutt of Waxahachie, Texas; Brian (Catherine) Michalk of Austin, Texas; Aaron (Lauren) Bohm of Cypress, Texas; and Elizabeth Bohm of Lincoln, Texas. He also leaves behind, great grandchildren, Theodore, Samuel, Avery, Margo, Lewis, Jacob, Nathaniel and Eli; sister, Deborah Faye Taylor of Austin; sister-in-law, Jeri Michalk of Harlingen, Texas as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.
