Roger E. Ingram, 75, of Mechanicsburg, passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, after months of failing health.
One of four children, Roger was born June 6, 1949, in Marysville to the late Ross P. and Hazel M. (Nicol) Ingram. A 1967 graduate of Fairbanks High School, Roger went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he spent his lifetime as a truck driver, a job he loved and continued even after his health slowed him down.
A man of faith, he attended the New California Presbyterian Church when his health allowed. A naturally social person, he enjoyed spending time with his "brothers in arms" at both the Mechanicsburg VFW Post 238 and the Marysville VFW Post 3320. He spent his free time working on his yard and watching Fox News, and when he could travel, he especially enjoyed the Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. He loved his dog, Petie, and never missed a Saturday cheering on his Ohio State Buckeyes during football season, nor his Cleveland Browns on Sundays.
He is survived by his children, Paul (Pam) Ingram of Delaware and Dawn LeMaster of Marion; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; brothers Dennis H. Ingram of Florida and Arthur C. (Marilyn) Ingram of Milford Center; sister-in-law Ruby (Jeff) Ingram of Marysville; cousin and special friend Wayne Nicol, whom Roger went to Vietnam with; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Along with his parents, Roger was also preceded in death by his wife, Penny L. Ingram, and his brother, Russell D. Ingram.
Calling hours will be 2-4 pm Sunday at Ingram & Snyder Funeral Home, 975 N. Maple St., Marysville. Graveside services will be held 10 am Monday at the Milford Center Cemetery with Pastor Earl Dunbar officiating, where the Union County Honor Guard will perform full military honors. All are invited to a luncheon at the Milford Center Lions Club, 20 London St., Milford Center, after the graveside.
The family requests that anyone attending visitation and graveside services to please dress casual and comfortable, even shorts are requested.
In Roger's memory, contributions may be made to Honor Flight Columbus, PO Box 20133, Columbus, OH, 43220, or in care of the funeral home.
