Roger Dale McElroy “Noke” was born on April, 29 1953 in Bowling Green, KY. He passed away on May 13, 2024 at the age of 71, in Seattle, WA.
Roger grew up in Franklin, KY, spending a lot of time on his grandparent’s farm with family. He loved camping, going to concerts and rafting with his friends. He played football and baseball through high school and even landed a walk-on quarterback position at the University of Kentucky. Roger then decided to make his way across the country, living in numerous states and ultimately landing in Orting, Washington, where he would raise his family and make many lifelong friends. Roger was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and a great sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, and adventurous. There wasn’t a house project he wouldn’t tackle and his professional experience in millwork carried an abundance of knowledge in doing so. He loved to travel, especially later in life with family and friends. Roger (or Papa) also loved playing with his grandchildren.
Roger is survived by his sister, Sunny Jones (Greg) of Louisville, KY; his brother, Marty McElroy (Kim) of Franklin, KY; son, Dugan McElroy (Emily) and grandsons Liam & Lennon of Portland, OR; daughter, Bailey McElroy (David) of Sumner, WA; son, Derik McElroy (Victoria); and granddaughters, Grace & Sunny of Sumner, WA; and several loving nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Nokel (Mac) McElroy and mother, Connie (McClary) McElroy, as well as his father-in-law, David Lewis.
