Ronald (Ron) J. Sarao, 78, of
Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, who are deeply saddened by his sudden passing. Born on March 13, 1947, he was the son of the late Charles and Amelia (Fiorante) Sarao.
A lifelong resident of Methuen, Ron was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Betty, with whom he shared 55 wonderful years, and a proud father of three, his daughter Lynne and his two sons David and Daniel. From a young age, Ron was known for his strong work ethic, kindness, and commitment to family. He often helped his father on various jobs growing up, and while working at Demoulas (Market Basket) he met the love of his life, Betty, which was the beginning of a partnership that lasted more than five decades.
Ron served proudly in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam War veteran, earning three Purple Hearts and various other medals in recognition of his courage and service to his country. After returning home, he began a long and successful career as an engineer at Raytheon, where he spent more than 40 years. Alongside his full-time work, Ron and his brother also opened a flower and gift shop, a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and tireless work ethic-qualities he passed on to his children.
He was known for his kind heart, corny dad jokes, and uncanny ability to fix just about anything. In his spare time, Ron loved searching yard sales and flea markets for hidden treasures, and in recent years, he became an enthusiastic entrepreneur selling his finds on Facebook Marketplace. When not on the hunt for great deals-or watching American Pickers and Pawn Stars-he could often be found relaxing on the couch with his best friend, Bentley.
Family was at the center of Ron's life. He cherished Sunday Italian pasta dinners, family vacations, and any moment spent with those he loved most. He taught everyone around him the value of hard work, laughter, and love.
Ron is survived by his loving children, Lynne Sarao of Woburn, MA, and Daniel Sarao and his wife, Paulina, of Florida; and by his treasured grandchildren, Luca, Vinny, and Marianna Sarao. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Betty and his son, David Sarao, who preceded him in death.
He will be forever missed and lovingly remembered.
