Ronald J. Buehler "Ron" a resident of Howell went home to the Lord and Blessed Mother on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 20, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan to Alton and Juliana Buehler. Ron attended St. John Berchmans Catholic Grade School in Detroit and then went on to earn his diploma from De La Salle Collegiate High School. Ron proudly served our Country in the United States Marine Corps. in which he was honorably discharged. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Detroit Mercy and his master's degree from Wayne State University. Ron was an avid University of Notre Dame fan and especially football. He enjoyed golfing and running and had a special talent for whistling. He was a member of the "Lamp Lighters" Barbershop Quartet. Ron was a quiet and gentle man but was often the life of the party. He was witty and funny and loved by many.
Ron met the love of his life JoAnn De Fauw at a family wedding. After they had shared a dance, they took a stroll down Jefferson Avenue together and enjoyed a lovely evening. Ron enjoyed his time with JoAnn at the wedding and phoned her to ask her to the De La Salle Prom. She did accept the invitation and after the dance, Ron continued to court JoAnn. Ring ready and safely tucked away in his pocket, Ron and JoAnn were spending some time together on Belle Isle and Ron did not end up having enough courage that day to ask the big question. During another special moment he did propose, and JoAnn accepted. On June 27, 1959, they were united in holy matrimony at St. Raymond Catholic Church.
Loving husband of JoAnn united for nearly 63 years in love. Beloved father of Allen (Claudia), Carolyn (Gerry) Storey, and Sharon (Allen) Jones. Loved grandfather of Marissa (Nick) Hudgins, Sean Storey, Jamey Storey, Danny Storey, Justin (Sarah) Jones, Ashley (Tyler) Patchoski, and Nathan (Morgan Perkins) Jones. Cherished great-grandfather of Justin and Henry Jones and Levi Patchoski. Ron was preceded in death by his parents Alton and Juliana Buehler and his brother, Jack Buehler.
A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 10:00 AM until the time of memorial Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church located at 440 East Washington Street, Howell, Michigan 48843. Cemetery prayers will take place immediately following Mass at Holy Spirit Catholic Cemetery in Hamburg, Michigan.
Family requests any contributions be made to The Christian Brothers De La Salle Collegiate High School, St. Joseph Mercy Hospice (specify on memo line to Livingston County), Meals on Wheels (specify Livingston County) or St. Joseph Catholic Church (Howell).
