Ronald Eugene Canny, 75, of Eldon, IA passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024. Cremation has taken place with a celebration of his life to be held at a later date. Friends may leave online condolences at www.cranstonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
Ron was born on October 29, 1948, in Iowa where he attended school in Eldon and graduated from Cardinal High School. He furthered his education at Buena Vista University, where he earned a bachelor's degree. His love for his country led him to serve as a member of the United States Air Force, a period of his life filled with pride and honor.
Following his military service, Ron dedicated his professional life to numerous roles before retiring from Dexter in Fairfield. Ron always enjoyed visiting with and meeting new people, sharing stories and forming connections that often lasted a lifetime. He never hesitated to give of his time or possessions to those in need.
Ron enjoyed motorcycles and traveling, especially to some of the world's natural wonders. Ron was also drawn to history, finding joy in learning about the past and the world around him.
Ron was predeceased by his father Charles Canny of Ottumwa, his mother Kathleen Pearson of Batavia, and his sister Priscilla "Pat" Wilson of Eldon.
He was the brother of Linda Morgan of Eddyville and the proud father of Ron Canny Jr. of Cedar Rapids, and Matthew Canny of Urbandale. His legacy continues through his grandsons Ian, Ethan, and Ronan Canny of Phoenix, Arizona.
