St. Albans – Ronald Kim Hojaboom a longtime area resident passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 11th, 2025, with his family at his side.
Born in St. Albans on September 18th, 1937, he was the son of the late William and Ruth (Little) Hojaboom. Ron was 87 years old.
On September 17th, 1978, Ron married Jacqueline "Jackie" Susan Guay, who predeceased him on May 27th, 2020.
Ron was a graduate of Swanton High School and attended the University of Vermont. He rose to the level of Tool Dye Master First Class with the Eveready and Energizer operations located in St. Albans where he loved what he did until retiring after 37 years of service.
He was longtime member of the St. Albans Elks Lodge #1566. He enjoyed visiting many of the local casinos, especially with Jackie. He logged countless hours boating primarily on Lake Champlain and then relaxing and enjoying the views from "the camp". He was a passionate gardener who loved to share the fruits of his labor with family and friends.
Ron always had a story to tell to his family, friends and anyone who was willing to listen. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren and regularly let others know about them.
Survivors include his daughter Michelle Madore, her husband, Matthew, their children, Cody, Julia and Adam, and his stepson, Scott Guptill, his partner, Vickie Allen, and close friends, Dr. "Chip" and Mary Chipanelli and Sue and Jerry Pelkey.
In addition to his parents, William and Ruth, and his wife of 41 years, Jackie, Ron was predeceased by his son, Mark Hojaboom on May 28th, 2024.
Ron's family will receive family and friends on Friday, February 7th, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans.
