It is with great sadness that "The Duke" Ronald E. Mahan, 82 of Bristolville passed away on February 3, 2025, at University Hospital in Cleveland, surrounded by his children. He was larger than life and always did things his way and, on his terms, right up to the very end. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Ron was born was born January 5, 1943, to the late Clinton E. Mahan and Elva Patrick Mahan. He was the big brother of Linda, David and Lea Alice.
Ron graduated from Bristol High School and was employed as a Tool and Die Maker at Packard Electric Division of GM for 30 years. He was an electrician who wired many homes throughout the area over the years. After retiring from Packard Electric, he fulfilled his dream of owning his own Semi Truck. He was happiest when he was in a Semi or Dump Truck heading down the road with his next load. He was also a heavy equipment operator at one time in partnership with Kenny King doing excavating. He drove Semi for many local companies over the years with the last spent driving for Gwinn Brothers of North Bloomfield hauling his last load of slag material in December. There was never a dirty truck if he had anything to do with it. He was probably the truck wash's best customer! Ron was a lifelong member of the Bristol Community Church, member of the Cortland Moose Lodge, and a Mason with the West Farmington Lodge #507 F&AM. He served as an EMT and Firefighter with the Bristol Volunteer Fire Department for many years and was also a Bristolville Township Trustee for eight years.
Aside from his many adventures on the road, his family and friends were his most cherished possessions. He is survived by his four children: Gayle Lynn (Edward) Mcintosh of Bazetta, Ronald Lee (Jo) Mahan of Millsboro, Delaware, Julie Ann (Brian) Sloan of Bristolville and Dean Paul (Julia) Mahan of Bristolville. His eleven grandchildren, Tara (Ben) Barnard, Joseph (Emily) McFalls, Lauren (Jocorey) Robins, Brianna (Brett) Kern. James McFalls, Jared (Delaney) Sloan, Brock (Jordan) Sloan, Matthew (Jordan) Sloan, Jay McFalls, Grace Mahan, and Garrett Mahan.
His Legacy continues with his fifteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his former wife, mother of his children and lifelong friend, Paulette Earnest.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Linda Frantz.
Our dad loved listening to his fire scanner to keep up on the local goings on. He was always up for a Sunday drive, a good card game which included finger tapping if he didn't have a good hand, a good western movie and most of all being with his family at all our get-togethers. We are going to miss you dad, and we will continue to make you proud. You were one in a million and no one will ever be able to fill your shoes.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Bristolville Community Church.
Friends may call from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home and again on Monday from 10:00 AM until service time at the church.
Interment will be at Sager Memorial Cemetery, Bristolville, OH at a later date.
The family requests that material contributions be made to the Bristol Community Church and/or
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in his memory.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
