Ronald Sylvester Scepaniak, 82, of Marietta, GA, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2024.
Ron was born on May 25, 1942, in Albany, Minnesota, the son of Sylvester and Helen (Heinen) Scepaniak. Ron grew up in the close community of Albany, Minnesota with his three younger brothers, Donald, Richard, and Steve. As mischievous as four boys can be, they couldn't get away with too much with their dad being a city policeman.
Ron is a graduate of Albany High School and grew up hunting and fishing with his dad and uncles. Upon graduating high school, Ron joined the Air Force in 1960, with six of his friends. He was stationed in various places before landing in Crete, Greece working as a radio broadcaster.
After leaving the service, Ron met his lovely bride, Sandi, in Litchfield, MN. Ron and Sandi were married in Forest City, MN in 1966. They lived in Litchfield, MN, St. Cloud, MN, and Rochester, MN before moving to Marietta, GA in 1978 when Ron was transferred while working for Equifax. A few years after moving to Georgia, Ron switched careers and worked for Banker Systems, Inc. (BSI) where he excelled in sales and was one of the top five leading salesman for his entire career. Ron and Sandi traveled the world through his success at BSI visiting France, Italy, Greece, Hong Kong, and Bangkok, to name a few amazing trips. After moving to Marietta, Ron became involved with their community and being very active in the Homeowner's Association for 20+ years and playing tennis on the neighborhood team.
Ron loved hunting, fishing, Western movies, Georgia Tech football, Fox News, and his favorite team, the Yankees. He always enjoyed grilling and entertaining friends and family in the backyard by the pool.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Helen Scepaniak.
Ron is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sandi Scepaniak, of Marietta, GA. He is also survived by his daughter, Heather McKeen of Holly Springs, GA and his son, Tad (Lisa) Scepaniak of Woodstock, GA. Ron also leaves behind four grandchildren, Jack McKeen, Brooke Scepaniak, Wyatt Scepaniak, and Will McKeen.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Lakeside Funeral Home in Woodstock, GA. Visitation will be held between 12:00-2:00 p.m. with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will also follow the service with light lunch offerings. A private committal service will follow at a later date at Georgia National Cemetery for Veterans in Canton, GA for immediate family members. We thank you for your love, support, and for sharing in the celebration of Ron's life.
