In Loving Memory Of
Ron Evans, age 81, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 16, 2025. Ron was born on April 26, 1944, in Mansfield, Arkansas, to Edgar and Lucille (Quinlivan) Evans. He graduated from Northside High School in 1962 and went on to attend both the University of Arkansas, where he was a member of the Razorback Band, and Arkansas Tech University, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
On May 10, 1986, Ron married the love of his life, Emily McDonald, in Fort Smith. They recently celebrated thirty-nine wonderful years of marriage. Ron worked as an accountant for the State of Arkansas and was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Fort Smith.
A devoted husband, father, uncle, and friend, Ron will be remembered for his warm smile, firm handshake, and generous spirit. He was a founding member of the River Valley Community Band, where he played the trumpet-a passion he carried throughout his life. Among his favorite pastimes was spending quality time with his beloved son at their family cabin.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Emily; his son, Stephen Evans; his grandchild, Lexington Beneux; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he cherished as his own and called him "Uncle Ronnie" as well as a host of friends and he was 'Mr. Ron' to two special people - Liz Casanova and Joeseph Casanova. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Lucille Evans; his brother Ray Evans and wife Shirley; his sister Shirley Omartian and husband Harry; and his sister Judy Randolph and husband Kent.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Parlor at First Presbyterian Church, 116 North 12th Street, Fort Smith, Arkansas (Please enter through the Garden on North B). A memorial service will follow on Friday, May 23, at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Cremation is under the thoughtful care of River Glenn Cremation and Funeral Services.
