Rose "Rosie" Marie Barcelona Funderburk passed away peacefully Thursday, November 7th, 2024, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on March 14, 1934, and attended Sacred Heart Catholic School. Rose retired from Bell South after working as a phone operator for more than thirty years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Rose loved painting, reading and spending time with family and friends, including her grand-dog Roux.
She is survived by her children, Jimmie Darren Funderburk (Fonda) and Cheryl Funderburk Songy (Kirk); grandchildren, Dara Boudreaux (Jonas), Nikki Fielding, Krista Combs (Jeremy) and Alex Funderburk (Kara); her sister, Carolyn Helmke; and her brother, Butch Barcelona (Pat). She is also survived by eight (8) great-grandchildren that she absolutely loved and adored: Allie, Alissa, Ashton, Lillian Rose, Jonah, Jude, Issie and Michael.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Wayne Funderburk; son, Mitchell "Mitch" Wayne Funderburk; granddaughter, Amy Lynn Funderburk; parents, Semour Joseph Barcelona and Elma Faye LeJeune Buford; and sisters, Norma Faye Ray and Betty Ann Barcelona Thoms.
Serving as pallbearers are Alex Funderburk, Jonas Boudreaux, Jeremy Combs, Ashton Bush, Jonah Boudreaux and Randy Thoms. Additionally, Butch Barcelona and Jude Combs will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be held at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, Louisiana, on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 9 o'clock A.M. until religious services in the chapel at 11:00 A.M., conducted by Brother Joel Williams. The crypt side service to follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 8th Ave, New York, NY 10001.
