Roselia Rodriguez Castro, of Slidell, Louisiana passed away on March 4, 2024, at the age of 92. She was a native of Pinar del Rio, Cuba, born on February 28, 1932. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gregorio and Juana Maria and brother Roberto Rodriguez. Roselia leaves behind, to treasure her forever, two brothers, Ramon and Victor; two sisters, Dulce and Cuca; two children, Idania Cure (Andrew), Mitchell Castro (Rondi); four granddaughters, Kristin Pearce, Chloe Montgomery (Cody), Phoebe Miller (Kyle), Shelbe Castro; five great-grandchildren, Hunter and Isabela Pearce, Jace, Lane, and Cora Montgomery and a host of extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
Roselia first got to the United States in 1961 after two failed attempts with an infant in tow, one bag to her name, to meet up with her husband Eligio Castro. They preceded to build a profound life from nothing. Roselia will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Notre Dame Hospice, Alisha and Carissa, and Greenbriar Nursing Home, Amanda and Aralea who lovingly took care of her.
Relatives and family are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 8:30 till 10:00 am, followed by a service at Jacob Schoen Funeral Home in New Orleans. Roselia will be laid to rest in St. Vincent DuPaul Mausoleum. Memories and condolences may be expressed at www.schoenfh.com.
