Rosemary T. Maxwell

ALBANY – Rosemary T. Maxwell, 96, passed away on December 31, 2025, at Teresian House Nursing Home, Albany
Ms. Maxwell was born on June 21, 1929, in Little Falls, a daughter of the late Bernard and Nora (Stock) Maxwell. She graduated from West Canada Valley Central School in 1946 and St. Mary's School of Nursing, Amsterdam, in 1949 where she then served as a nurse. She furthered her education at D'Youville College, Buffalo, and then University of Iowa with a Masters Degree in Nursing Administration. She returned to St Mary's Hospital as Director of Nursing and was last employed as a nurse representative at the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. Ms. Maxwell was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include three siblings, William (Shirley) Maxwell of Middleville, Paul (Nancy) Maxwell of Utica, and Lois Maxwell (Bruce Doud) of Slingerlands; and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews. Rosemary was predeceased by her siblings, Jane Smith, Bernard and Edward Maxwell, Eileen Holleran, Dorothy Edwards, Beatrice Hughes, and Helen Murphy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John's Church, 7512 Main Street, Newport, on Saturday, January 10 at 11:00 am with Rev. Justin Thomas, Pastor officiating. Calling hours at the Autenrith Funeral Home, 7479 Main Street, Newport are Friday, January 9 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. Spring interment will take place in St. John's Cemetery.
