Ross Dean Walker, 84, of Plainfield, passed from this life in the comfort of his home on Sunday, September 24, 2023. His life began on November 28, 1938 in Monrovia when he was born to the late Manson Jennings Walker and Bertha Hazel (Whitaker) Walker.
He graduated from Monrovia High School with the class of 1956. He played baseball and basketball in school and was inducted into the Monrovia High School Hall of Fame. He worked Midwest Brake in Indianapolis as a salesman for over 25 years. He also was an owner of Thompson Auto Supply in Mooresville for 15 years. Ross was a great salesman winning many awards and priding himself in excellent customer service.
Ross married the love of his life, Gloria Dean Poynter, on July 21, 1956. A man of great faith, he was a member of Brooklyn Church of God. In his free time, Ross enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and golfing.
He leaves behind a host of loving family and friends including his wife of over 67 years, Gloria Walker of Plainfield; sons, Robert (wife, Kathy) Walker of Hall and Rodney (wife, Becky) Walker of Mooresville; daughter, Rhonda (husband, Phillip) Thomas of Franklin; sisters, Janet Marine of Camby, Sue (husband, Mike) Shelley of Camby, and Nancy Tomlinson of Camby; grandchildren, Toni (husband, Chris) Eash of Plainfield, Dana (husband, Brian) Foreman of Zionsville, Rodney Walker Jr. of Mooresville, and Kristi (husband, Sam) Kean of Wellesley, MA; and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Manson and Hazel Walker; son, Ross Douglas Walker; daughter, Brenda Gail Walker; sister, Linda Tackett; and brothers, Donnie Walker, Melvin Walker, and Manson McKenney Sr.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service and Crematory in Mooresville. Ross’s Life Celebration® Service will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Brooklyn Church of God, 8606 N Country Club Rd, Mooresville. There will be an hour of visitation prior to the service. His earthly remains will be cremated following the service and his cremated remains will be laid to rest in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Monrovia on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 10:00 am.
