Roy "Bill" William Grunwaldt, age 88, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away at home on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, surrounded by his loving wife and five children after a courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
A funeral service will be held at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids on Monday, November 14, 2022, at 12:30 pm. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00am until the time of service on Monday.
Roy was born on December 16, 1933, in Black Creek, WI to Minard and Esther Grunwaldt. He attended Seymour High School and Whitewater University. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran and served in the Korean War. Roy married Valerie Jean Meyer on September 5, 1959, at First Congregational Church in Appleton, WI.
Roy served as Administrator at Wild Rose Hospital for over 25 years, retiring in 1988. After his retirement, he and Valerie became owners and operators of Moose Inn Supper Club in Wautoma, WI, selling in 1999 and retiring to their home in Wisconsin Rapids.
Roy enjoyed spending time at the cabin with his family on Soo Lake in Phillips, WI. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, growing shiitake mushrooms, and driving his tractor.
Roy is survived by his wife, Valerie; children, Todd (Lorna) Grunwaldt, Paulette (George Wojciga) Grunwaldt, Brett (Jennifer) Grunwaldt, Scott Grunwaldt, and Jill Presser; grandchildren, Alan, Neil, Bryce, Noah, Andrew, Alyssa, and Jakob; great-grandchildren, Peter, Penelope, and Vinny; sister, Betty Lemke; and brother, Jack (Carolin) Grunwaldt.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lee and James Grunwaldt; and great-grandson, Emmett.
The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice and the Veterans Administration for their care and support of our dad.
