Roy Ronald Nichols

Roy R. Nichols, a cherished family man, respected professional, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2024, in Clinton Township. Born on March 31, 1945, in Erie, Pennsylvania, Roy's journey through life was marked by his unwavering kindness, a friendly demeanor that drew people to him, and a love for life's simple pleasures.
Roy's early years laid the foundation for a life full of love and service. His career path was as diverse as it was distinguished. For over two decades, he excelled as an insurance salesman, earning the trust and respect of his clients and colleagues. His dedication to helping others was also evident in his time as a firefighter, bravely serving in the Arizona Desert. Roy's entrepreneurial spirit shone through his successful stints as an auto salesman and realtor, and he eventually retired from a fulfilling role at the Chesterfield Township Home Depot, where he was known for his helpful nature and warm smile.
Family was the cornerstone of Roy's world. He was a devoted father to Donna (Paul) Nickels of Roscommon, Ronald (Tami), Matthew (Natasha) of Clinton Township, and Angela (Joe) Cracchiolo of Chesterfield Township. His love extended to his stepchildren, Michael (Johanna) Rose, Lee Ann (Danny) Senese, Maureen Rose (Rob Peshke), Janice Gates, and Rick (Theresa) Nedrow, as well as his stepson-in-law, Troy Sharrer. Roy's legacy continues through his 16 grandchildren, Devlynn (Chelsea), Brynn (Jeff), Steven (Shelby), Joshua (Stefanie), Jack (Stefani), Chelsea (Jonathan), Alayna, Antonio, Adalynn, and Josie, Amanda, Aisha, Brianna, Lilly, Kaylee and Chase and eight great-grandchildren, who will remember him for his playful spirit and the wisdom he imparted.
Roy's sister, Rita Forbes of Waterford, and his stepsiblings, Linda, Cheryl, Kathy, Cindy, and Dan, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family, will fondly recall his stories and laughter. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy, in 2009; his stepson, Kenny Rose; stepdaughter, Dianna Sharrer; and sisters, Penny Nichols and Nancy Faulkner and stepbrother Tony Nichols.
In his younger years, Roy's adventurous spirit was evident in his love for hunting and fishing and bowling. He was an avid card player and loved winning at Euchre and Poker! Roy's greatest joy, however, was found in the time he spent surrounded by his family and loved ones, creating memories that they will treasure forever.
As we bid farewell to Roy R. Nichols, we celebrate a life well-lived-a life filled with love, service, and the joy of connecting with others. His spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him, and his memory will be cherished in the hearts of his family and friends for generations to come.
Roy's life was a testament to the power of friendliness and the importance of community. He will be deeply missed, but the warmth of his legacy will continue to comfort and guide us.
