Roy Pitts, Jr., of Smilax, KY, passed away on July 28, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 21, 1967 in Hazard, KY, to his parents Roy Pitts and Mollie Maggard Pitts. Roy was a beloved father and friend known for his vibrant personality and passion for life. He had a wide range of hobbies and interests that brought him joy, including hunting, fishing, playing corn hole and horseshoes, and even cutting grass. Above all else, he cherished being actively involved in the lives of his children. He will be deeply missed by his fiance, Melissa Morgan of Smilax, KY, his son, Jacob Pitts of Smilax, KY; two daughters, Mollie Leah Pitts of Smilax, KY, and Brooklyn Hayley Morgan of Smilax, KY; three sisters, Jacquline Collett & Forrest of Stinnett, KY; Maxine Mitchell and her sons of Wooton, KY; Darlene Clark (Martin) of Smilax, KY; special nieces, Terri Lynn Heatwole of Williamsburg, KY, and Ashley Hammonds of Williamsburg, KY; along with a host of other cherished nieces and nephews.
Roy was predeceased by his father, Roy Pitts and mother, Mollie Maggard Pitts and by his sisters, Kathleen Pitts Fouts and Patsy Ann Simpson; brother-in-law, Jimmy Mitchell; nephew, Jamie Simpson; and special friend, Anthony "Barney" Lewis.
Services to honor Roy's life will be held at Walker Funeral Homes, LLC in Hyden, KY. A visitation will take place on August 1st starting at 6:00 PM with a funeral service following on August 2nd at 1:00 PM. with Rev. Billy Joe Lewis, Russell Dean Fouts and Alan Coots officiating. Interment will take place at the Pitts Family Cemetery at Yeaddiss, KY The following will serve as pallbearers: Andrew Eversole, Andrew Stidham, Robert Stidham, Marty Clark, Jonathan Clark, Casey Clark and Jacob Pitts. Honorary pallbearers will be, Mollie Pitts, Brooklyn Morgan, Alex Mitchell, Bryan Mitchell, Terri Heatwole, and Kristen Lanham. These events are an opportunity for family and friends to come together to celebrate Roy's life and share memories in a spirit of love and remembrance.
Roy's legacy lives on through the kindness he showed others and the joy he brought to those around him. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him as a caring father, loyal friend, and someone who lived life to the fullest. May he rest in peace.
