Roy Valdez Obituary

Roy was born on November 1, 1947, in Valmora, NM to Ben and Mary Valdez. He gained his wings on July 19, 2024, in Lubbock, TX after a long battle with cancer.
Roy served in the United States Air Force for four years and served one year in Tuy Hoa, Vietnam. He was deployed to Vietnam in December 1969. After receiving an honorable discharge, Roy moved to Clovis, NM where he was a fire fighter for the City of Clovis for two years. Roy then continued his Fire Fighter career at Cannon Air Force Base for the next 30 years. Roy retired as the Assistant Fire Chief.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Mary Valdez; his son, Tommy Valdez; his grandson, Juan Valdez; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Manuel and Anita Palacio; his brothers, Joe and Jerry Valdez; and his sister, Mary Walker.
Roy is survived by his wife of 55 years, Esther Valdez; his son, Roy K. (Sandra) Valdez; his daughter, Samantha R. (Fred) Baker; grandchildren, Mariah Chavez, Brittni Chavez, Brandon Chavez, Jessica (Shandy) Cordova, Collin (Kristen) Baker, Trystan (Faith) Baker, and Shea (Ayden) Baker; great grandchildren, Elijah Padilla and Payzlee Petner; and countless family and friends that Roy loved dearly.

My dad, Conrad Moreno worked for Roy at the Cannon AFB Fire Dept and they were good friends. I became friends with his son Roy. My prayers are for the Valdez family in their grief. May Roy´s memory be a blessing to them and all who knew him.
