Ruby Shuman Obituary
She was born on July 12, 1940, in East St. Louis, IL, to William and Ruby (nee Rarick) Gerstenecker.
Ruby worked as a school bus driver for 15 years, serving the Collinsville, Edwardsville, Belleville, and O'Fallon area. She was an avid Cardinals fan, but especially loved the players. In her free time, Ruby loved to tend to her flowerbeds, paint, do word searches, and complete puzzles. She loved her son's dogs, Jasmine, and Buddy, but only "kind-of-liked" Harley. Ruby was a treasured mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruby Gerstenecker.
Ruby is survived by her children, Melinda (Gary) Engeling, Butch (Nicki) Depper, Scott (Kimberly) Depper, John Depper; grandchildren, Erin Engeling, Stacy Engeling, Candace Nordike, Ralph Depper, April Mundy, Jacob Mundy; great-grandchildren, Berklie, Ella; brothers, Bill (Jan) Gerstenecker, Thomas (Rosemary) Gerstenecker; nieces, nephews, and many loving friends.
Visitation: Friday, August 18, 2023, 9:00am to 12:00 pm, at Kassly-Meridith Funeral Home, Collinsville, IL.
Service: Friday, August 18, 2023, 12:00 pm, Kassly-Meridith Funeral Home, Collinsville, IL.
Clergy: Rev. Michael Barclay
Interment: St. John's Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.
