Ruth Rita Hansen

Ruth Rita Hansen, 83, passed away peacefully in Greenville, South Carolina on December 9, 2025. Born on April 9, 1942, in Hartford, Connecticut, Ruth grew up in Glastonbury, where she graduated from Glastonbury High School.
Ruth served for two years as a hospital corpsman in the United States Navy. Following her service, she earned an associate's degree in business and built a long and dependable career with the United States Postal Service, working as a clerk in Oxnard, California, her home for most of her adult life.
Ruth was the daughter of Ruth H. Pearson Sahlberg and Robert H. Baril. She was preceded in death by her brothers Robert (Bob) Baril and Carl Sahlberg. She is survived by five siblings: Carl (Tom) Baril, Eileen Sahlberg, Ethel Bothur, Ellis (Junior) Sahlberg, and Karen Brower.
Ruth leaves behind three children: Vivian Hansen, Ken Hansen, and Brian Hansen. She was a grandmother to five grandchildren: Haley Hansen, Isabel Hansen, Zachary Hansen, Madilynn Hansen, and Christopher West.
Creative at heart, Ruth had a lifelong passion for arts, crafts, and do-it-yourself projects. Whether she was painting, building, or designing, she poured passion and imagination into everything she crafted.
Ruth will be remembered for her resilience and the quiet strength she carried throughout her life. She will be missed by her family and by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held in Greenville, on a date to be determined.
