It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Mom, Ruth Edith O'Banion. Ruth passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025. She was born November 27,1922 in Loogootee, IN and what a life she lived!

Mom saw a lot of changes and adventures during her 102 years of life. She loved all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was always asking about what was going on in everyone's lives.

Ruth was a strong person who was always up to something, whether it was building a fence or painting anything she could get her hands on to improve its looks. She was up to "shenanigans" as the family fondly called it. We loved to share laughter and good times with her.

Ruth worked as a bookkeeper and was truly proud of all her work experience! She was a bookkeeper for Doyle Furniture Company for fifty years. She worked at Keep Indianapolis Beautiful until she was 83 years of age. Ruth was also a devout Catholic and truly held the church close to her heart!

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. O'Banion; sons, Robert M. O'Banion,Timothy O'Banion; and daughter,Trish Erwin.

Survivors include her children, Kathy O'Banion, Char Curley, and Laura (Jerry) McConnell. Ruth was the matriarch of a family of six children; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-one great grandchildren.

Ruth will truly be missed by all of her family! We proudly called her "Mom", "Grandma Ruth" or "Grandma Rup".

A private family ceremony to celebrate Ruth's life will be held at a later date.

Bussell Family Funerals is privileged to assist the family in arrangements.
