Ruth Smith Obituary
On Friday, December 15, 2023, Ruth May Smith passed away unexpectedly at the age of 76. Born in Akron on February 18, 1947, she, along with her husband, Reverend Raymond "Bud" Smith, founded Harvestime Apostolic Temple in Hartville, where she served as Pastor's wife and Sunday School Secretary for over 44 years and sang in the Harvestime Trio for over 35 years. She was active in the Ohio Women's Esprit of the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ and proudly hosted the Ministers Meetings for the Northern Section and as always, would cook so much food, they would beg for her to host it each year, and she did.
Ruth worked many years as a florist and a hair dresser. Over the years, ladies from all over the State of Ohio would come to her house to get a beehive. She always believed, the higher the hair, the closer to God. Her favorite things in life were to serve the Lord, spend time with her family, attending conferences, crafting with her friend, Helen, going shopping, going shopping, and going shopping. Ruth loved to make beautiful baskets for those in the hospital, or anyone she knew going through a hard time. She loved everyone, was loved and respected by all who knew her, and will be deeply missed.
Preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Delmer J. and Mary White, and father-and-mother-in-law, Martin and Dorothy (Smith) brothers, Reverend Eugene White, Paul White, James White, David White, and the love of her life for over 57 years, Rev. Raymond Bud Smith. She is survived by her children; Reverand Raymond II (Linda) Smith, Christine Smith and Cynthia (James) Maddamma; grandchildren, Raymond III (Brittany), Joshua, Zack, Mary, Jay, Allyson, Whitney, Jacob and Adam; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Elijah, Isaiah and Lilliana; Sister Martha (Milford) Smith; sister-in-law, Beverly (Roger) Unger; and many loving cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023 from 1-3 p.m. at Harvestime Apostolic Temple, 136 E. Maple St., Hartville, OH 44632. The funeral service will be at the church immediately after at 3:00 PM with Pastor Nelson "Butch" Carter officiating. Following the service, a dinner will be held at 10547 Market Ave N, Uniontown, OH 44685.
