Henderson - Sally Angelle, a beloved resident of Henderson, Louisiana, has passed away, on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and heartfelt connections. A 1979 graduate of Cecilia High School, Sally attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana (U.S.L.), where she nurtured her passion for photography and journalism.
For 28 years, Sally was a devoted staff reporter and award-winning photographer for The Teche News, capturing moments that resonated with readers and bringing stories to life through her lens. Her commitment to her work was evident to all who knew her, and her contributions to the newspaper were immeasurable. While at the Teche News, Sally formed special friendships and bonds with several employees, most especially her mentor, Henri Bienvenu.
Sally was not only an advocate for animal rights, but she also had a special affection for cats and dogs. She supported the St. Martin Parish Animal Shelter in any way that she could. Her love for animals was a testament to her compassionate nature, and she spent much of her time ensuring their well-being.
Family and friends were at the heart of Sally's life. She cherished the moments spent dining out and enjoying the company of her loved ones and friends who were like family to her. She was proud of her Cajun heritage, embracing its rich culture, vibrant music, and delicious food. Sally's pride in her roots was a defining aspect of her character, and she shared this love with everyone she met.
An avid photographer, Sally found joy in capturing the beauty of the world around her. She seldom missed a fair or festival, embodying the vibrant culture and spirit of her community. She had a unique ability to connect with strangers, making them feel seen and valued. A promoter of her Cajun culture, local musicians and businesses, Sally could have been an ambassador for St. Martin Parish. Her dedication to her hometown of Henderson and the community of Cecilia were immeasurable. She was a proud alumnus of Cecilia High School and biggest supporter of "her" Cecilia Bulldogs.
Sally lived life to the fullest, embracing every opportunity and making a positive impact on those around her. Through all of life's struggles, losses, and ups and downs, she always managed to say, "I'm staying in my lane!"
Her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and she will be deeply missed. Rest in peace, Sally Ann Angelle. You "Lived! Laughed! Loved! Smiled! And most importantly, you were Kind!" May your spirit and legacy live on forever.
