Norfolk, VA - Samuel Edgar Newcomer II, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, in
Norfolk, Virginia, just shy of his 67th birthday. He was born on March 10, 1959, in
Daytona Beach, Florida, where he spent his formative years.
Samuel's journey through life was marked by his passion for culinary arts, music, and sports. After graduating from Sea Breeze High School in Daytona Beach, he pursued further education and acquired an Associate's Degree in Florida. His love for cooking led him to a distinguished career as an Executive Chef, during which he delighted patrons at several renowned restaurants before he retired.
Beyond his professional achievements, Samuel was an avid guitarist and golfer, finding joy both in the kitchen and on the greens. Those who knew him will fondly remember his warm spirit, quick wit, and exceptional talent.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel E. and Leone Newcomer. Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Jessica and Hallie Newcomer, and his cherished grandson, Alexander Glueck-Newcomer. Samuel is also survived by his two loving sisters, Jody Burch and Kitty Crouch, along with numerous other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Throughout his life, Samuel called many places home. After his early years in Daytona Beach, he spent some time in South Carolina before settling in Virginia. In 1993, he returned to Florida but ultimately made his way back to Virginia in 2008, where he spent his remaining years.
