Born Edwin Arthur Duncan on September 16, 1941 in Collins, Iowa, he was the son of Robert and Gladys (Kuhn) Duncan. He grew up in New Providence. He worked at Gra-Iron and started truck driving in 1988. He also enjoyed lending a helping hand with farming. Art took mowing yards very seriously and always left his lawns looking immaculate.
Sandra Kay Venenga was born on January 29, 1944 in Holland, Iowa to parents Bernard "Bernie" and Louise (Dilly) Venenga. She grew up in Wellsburg. Sandi drove the school bus for West Marshall for over thirty years and especially enjoyed driving the softball girls to their games. Sandi was actively involved with the Ladies Aid and LWML and she loved country music.
Art and Sandi met when they were young and the couple was united in marriage on June 1, 1960 in Eldora, Iowa. They made their home in Clemons, Iowa and they were faithful members of Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center. Both Art and Sandi greatly enjoyed working at Orphan Grain Train. They enjoyed a simple life together and more than anything else, they loved their family and especially enjoyed watching their grandchildren grow up.
Left to cherish their memory are their children: Karla Funke of Zearing, IA, Kelly Duncan of Melbourne, IA, Kevin Duncan of Waverly, IA and Kathi (Nick) Patten of Albion, IA; their grandchildren: Jason (Tracy) Funke, Alissa (Jon) Snyder, Thomas Blink (Brooke), Karenna "Kari" Lavanez, Mollee Patten (Zach) and Mark Patten; seven great-grandchildren; Art's sister, Marlys Smith of Iowa Falls, IA; Sandi's siblings: DeAnna Cmelik of Cherokee, IA and Bernard "Gene" (Janet) Venenga of Parkersburg, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
In eternal life, in addition to each other, the couple is reunited with their parents: Robert and Gladys Duncan and Bernie and Louise Venenga; their daughter-in-law, LeAnn Duncan; Art's brothers: Oscar and Raymond and his sisters: Clareta, Faye, Violet, Dorothy and Margie; Sandi's sister and her husband, Helen and Norman Tow; and their brother-in-law: Walter Cmelik.
