Sandra Chase Obituary

Sandra Lea “Sandy” Chase, 73, of Evansville, Indiana passed away on May 11, 2024. She was born on June 12, 1950 to Lyman Derwood “Woody” and Deloris Cecilia Williamson in Evansville, Indiana

Sandy attended the Marian Heights Academy and St. Benedict College in Ferdinand, Indiana as a young woman and went on to study nursing at the University of Evansville. She dedicated her life as a nurse comforting and caring for others. Sandy had a zest for life and enjoyed various hobbies including playing tennis and volleyball, reading, gardening, volunteering, cooking amazing food, attending concerts and lectures, and playing cards and games with friends. She was a voracious reader, and she could answer the majority of Jeopardy questions every night to the amazement of her children. She cherished the outdoors and became a Master Gardener after retirement. She found solace in spending time caring for her yard. Every year it was more colorful and beautiful, and she loved to show off her hard work to her friends and visitors. Sandy was an avid dog lover and shared her home and love with so many over the years.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, her son Gary Joseph Chase, Junior, her brother, Joseph Williamson, and her companion, Bill Bishop. Sandra is survived by her children Kelly Chase and Benjamin Chase (Katharina); her beloved grandchildren, Linus, Felix, Hanno, Simon, and Ilva; nieces Devin Williamson Gish (Charlie) and Ashley Nolen; nephew, Philip Nolen (Charlene); best friends Alice Harker and Cathy Clark; cousin Shawn Voyles; dogs Rambo and Dolly, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
