Sandra Hicks Obituary

Sandra was born July 6, 1945 in Detroit the daughter of the late Albert and Betty (DeMott) Stankewitz. She graduated from Armada High School in 1963. Sandra married Henry Hicks on May 22, 1965 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Armada, MI. They spent many loving years together until his passing on June 24, 2016.
Sandra and Henry owned and operated a convenience store before opening Shernni's Candies in Richmond in 1986. In 1989 they moved the business to Romeo and retired in 2008. It is still operated by new ownership today. Sandra enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading. She also like playing Keno, Bingo and card games with friends. She made many good friends through her "Wednesday therapy group."
Sandra is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Alyson and Michael Schade; grandchildren who knew her as "Grammy", Kendal and Jordan Valentine, Michael, Lydia and David Schade; sisters, Janice Blake and Karen (John) Clawson. She loved her four legged companion Mini for many years. Sandra is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family honors the memory of Sandra and invites you to visit and share memories Monday, February 12, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with 10:00 a.m. visiting at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Richmond.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Wishes of the Family.
