Sara Kathryn Horch was born on April 10, 1933, in Norristown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. She died on November 23, 2024, at home in Florida. She was the only daughter of Thomas S. Michelhaugh, and Kathryn Heckler. She is survived by her children, Sara Ellen Slack, Nancy A. Ryan, Donea J. Ryan, Michelle R. (Robert) Scobee, and Jeanette Horch Ellisor. She is preceded in death by her husband Dan F Horch, her parents, her brother Thomas A. Michelhaugh, and her grandson James R. Slack. She is survived by her brother, Richard H Michelhaugh, 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and her beloved fur-baby, Lily. Sara was a retired technical writer for the Ohio Department of Transportation. She was a kind and loving person with many talents. She praised God with her beautiful singing voice. The Anona Methodist Church choir was her second family. She often recalled their tour to sing for churches and military bases in England and Germany (May 2006). Her interests included shelling, rock hounding, biblical archeology, and traveling. She traveled to numerous places around the world with Dan. They also loved to camp with their 1990 Ford Conversion Van. She loved shopping at estate sales. They were her favorite places to shop. She bought numerous sewing machines and repaired them to give away. She also collected clocks, blue glass (her favorite color) and other treasures. Her many talents were sewing, reupholstering furniture, making lampshades, and rewiring lamps. When High Fidelity sound was popular, she built a HiFi set where she could play musical soundtracks so she could sing along with them. Her favorite flowers were deep red geraniums, blue salvia, and snapdragons. She wasn't a fan of cooking unless she was hosting a gathering of loved ones. Her special recipes were homemade cranberry sauce, oyster stuffing and pickled beets. She loved introducing her loved ones to the Gulf coast of Florida. She was a source of so much love, strength, and wisdom. Her legacy will live on in our family, and we will carry her love with us always. May she rest peacefully. She was truly one of a kind.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Anona Methodist Church Choir, 13233 Indian Rocks Rd, Largo, FL 33774.
Arrangements will be made with Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, 515 High Street, Worthington, Ohio 43085
